This picturesque hill station has an interesting history behind it. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala was prohibited to enter Shimla by Lord Kitchener, the then Commander-in-Chief in 1891. Thus the Maharaja vowed to build a new and better summer capital for himself near to Shimla and thus the Chail Hill Station was founded.

Other major attractions of the Chail Hill Station include the Chail Sanctuary. Founded in 1976, the sanctuary covers an area of 10,854 hectares. The sanctuary is well known for the rich collection of flora and fauna. The Palace of Chail founded by the Maharaja of Patiala is another attraction here. Other hot spots of Chail hill Station are the cricket ground, which is the highest cricket ground of the world, Sidh Baba ka Mandir and many more.
How to reach the Chail Hill Station:
You can enjoy the experience of the toy train ride in the Kalka-Shimla track. You will need around 5 hours to reach Kandaghat from Kalka. The breathtaking views of the hills through the deep ravines and the tunnels will surely give you an experience of a lifetime!
You can also reach to Chail through flight. Kalka is the nearest airport. From there you need to take a bus or rent a car to get to the Chail Hill Station. Chail is about 86 kilometers from Kalka by road.
